Welcome The World Of Mini Empire

I’m so happy to be welcoming our newest collection into the guild. A collection of illustrations and playful designs that are treasures to keep and invitations to a world where the familiar meets the imaginative, a world created by Jenny von Döbeln.

With enchantng patterns and rich detail Jenny’s ‘illustrations are distinguished by storytelling’, bridging a world of her own creation with familiar characters there is always a touch of surrealism.

‘Another birdsnest’  an idea of an imaginary home. Inspired by memories of childhood, climbing in trees, and the love of old beautiful architechture.

‘Deep woods’ inspired by the wildlife in the ancient woods of Sweden

‘The pear’ inspired by old folkloric patterns and embroidery

It is designs like these that get me excited about design for children. Designs that give life to imagination, that push its borders and give everlasting memories of the most treasured part of our lives.

When first I saw the collection I fell. I fell into each picture like Alice down the rabbit hole. Another world on paper and one I knew I wanted for my own childrens’ walls as well as mine. The pictures hung on in our home that we journey into, the ones that will become part of our playful world, and give stories to our imaginations. Treasured and passed down.

Searching for pieces that uphold our own values we bring this collection of well considered pieces that bring the aesthetic and design we look for for ourselves and give to our own children.

Wovenplay - for the Everyday Artist & Adventurer.

Wovenplay has arrived at Sisters Guild!

Founded in 2007 only a year after the arrival of my first daughter I feel as though we've grown up alongside Wovenplay. We've loved these pieces of playfulness since the first time our own children refused to ever take them off. Obscuring the line between clothing and costume, it's a collection we've handed down from one child to the next, one dream like adventure to another.

Katherine Edmunds the founder and designer of Wovenplay creates a line of clothing and accessories for children that manage to successfully combine dressing up costumes and everyday wear in a fun, unique and dreamlike way. An imaginative collection that carries the notion of childhood and its innately imaginative spirit, Wovenplay is about adventure, expression, individuality and fun.

Each pieces is hand sewn, hand dyed, hand printed and finished with such beautiful touches you'd think the fairies had sewn them. Not surprising as Katherine has a background in art, textiles and traditional French dressmaking. Fabrics are coloured in natural or low impact dyes, packaging is recycled or biodegradable and production is fair trade, so though Katherine may not be an actual fairy she's certainly friends with them.

With a quality of colour and texture and such care to every stitch each fanciful piece of Wovenplay feels as though it belongs to another time, another world. And, indeed they do, made for the world of our children a vibrant world of freedom and imagination, 'for the everyday artist and adventurer.'

This season introduces a new collection of 'Aventuur' pieces; including the cowboy, pirate and knight, A new collaboration with Jess Brown and playsuits and accessories that'll knock the daydreams back into you.

2012 - a year of new discoveries

Happy New Year to you all. We hope you have enjoyed some good holiday time with friends, family and places you love. We had a busy December, which involved a trip to New York for Carla and a relocation from Sussex to Somerset for Bekka. Whilst London will remain a creative hub for Sisters Guild, the practical operation of the business will now be happening in the lovely little town of Frome. We shall be introducing a new 'sister' to you next month who will be learning the ropes and getting to know you all. AND March will bring a new baby for Bekka. So, 2012 looks set to be a year of new discoveries for the sisters and family.
