Waddler - the Legend of the Wild

High up in silent plains of the Andes where wild alpaca graze there's a call to the wild as a Maurice Sendak-esque adventure begins. Waddler has arrived. A new collection a new adventure. Waddlers collection continues to excite the wildest of dreams in which we follow with a free heart and bear hooded ears.
It started out as a feeling, a place that grew into a idea that turned into a legend; Waddler. A legend that will last through childhood and onto the next as we enjoy the imaginative fairytale and wrap our children up in it.
Wrapping up warm with the wide eyed possibilities of being a child embracing the world the legend of waddler whispers;  'go, be adventurous run and play in the riotous adventure that is your fairytale' .

snow

waking up to a blanket of snow has got to be one of the greatest joys of winter. Grabbing anything we could that would make a good sledge including a kitchen tray we headed out for our nearest and highest point. we made snowmen, threw snowballs....mostly ganging up against daddy, found a great sledging track and stuck our tongues out up to the sky to catch the falling snow. Heading home passing by the snow sculptures (oh yes there were many enthusiasts that made our attempt look a little pathetic albeit traditional), and hearing the 'wooooooo's and 'weeeeeeeeeeee's of people sledging and laughter as they came flying off . then home, warm and dry cosying up under a blanket with mugs of hot chocolate to warm our hands and tummies. i hope you've all been enjoying the snow as much as cosying up together.

Winter Warmth

The colder days are creeping in and long gone are the bare legs and short sleeves. Or until another year at least. Autumn is showing its beautiful deep colours that seem to thaw the disapproval of a new season arriving and we surrender to its cool and blustery days.
Not wanting to completely let go of the summer that didn't seem to stay long this year, we're stubbornly wearing our summer dresses over long sleeved t-shirts and thick woolly tights, reluctant to let go. With warm cardigans and jumpers on top for that cosy layer we so need. For the first time this week we've been grabbing our winter coats, jackets and hats and with the bitter morning wind biting our hands we've got our gloves at the ready too.
So much do we love keeping cosy whether we're inside or out we've created a new category in the boutique with all our favourite 'winter warmers'........with pieces from ilovegorgeous, bobo choses, hucklebones, Dandy Star, waddler and Lucky Boy Sunday. There'll be more to add soon too as we welcome more designs so keep an eye out for news of new arrivals too.

Wednesday Woo - Wild & Free

Sometimes childhood adventures take us into the the wild sometimes its the wilds of our own bedrooms where beds become ships and rugs are islands, kitchen tables become treehouses and chairs lined up in row become trains that will take us to places beyond our own walls beyond our everyday boundaries and into our imaginations.
Waddler's collections are reminiscent of all these wild adventures with its soft comfortable hand knitted 100% alpaca wool and a comfortable cosy fit its a clothing collection for the wild and free as well as their eco conscious parents.

The Art of Living - Dressing Up Then and Now

There has been a lot of focus of 'now and then' in the press in lieu of the upcoming Jubilee here in the UK and I've been taking a look back at the clothes children have worn over the past 60 years. The shapes, the colour and the classics of a generation now grown up. There has been a great and welcome shift in the design of children's clothes and now we see clothing designed for children, created with the child's perspective of life they're fun, free flowing and imaginative.

Since beginning Sisters Guild I've become so much more aware of the trends and styles of children's clothing and as a mother with a passion for great design I've begun to understand what is important about childrens clothing. Searching for the very best unique designers and offering them to you here in the boutique, we constantly seek the classics of this new blossoming generation, predicting the shapes and colours that children and parents alike will both love, pieces hard to find on the highstreet, quirky, colourful, playful, pieces that mark the style, the era of a generation in bloom.

We don't like to think of our clothing range as 'fashion' we try to look at it as 'dressing up' its not about being on trend when you're a child but rather being you. It's about dressing up to who you are, be it lollipop shorts, bright festival dresses, soft rompers for doing just that.. romping around the big outdoors with no care in the world, they can be the girliest of girly dresses perfect for parties or picnics with bears and fit for a queen, pieces that make you feel unique, special, beautiful and free, if a child wants to fly you can make them fabric wings, if they want to climb cover their knees, if they want to dance give them a skirt that twirls as much as they could imagine. Our dressing rooms are about dressing to who you are and who you can be.

We've looked back at trends of the past; the clothes our mothers wore as children, the clothes we wore as we were growing up and now we're enjoying the now. A freer generation, a brighter and more colourful time and as we ready ourselves for deciding upon our SS13 range we look forward to discovering even more of the quirky and classic for the new generation in the hope that some of those pieces will become part play, part memories of your children's childhood and perhaps handed down to the next. Because here at Sisters Guild we believe in longevity, we believe that tomorrow is forever and childhood should last a lifetime.

We revisited a childhood love of paper dressing up dolls and created our very own from the SS12 collection here in our dressing rooms because though things change there's comfort in continuity.

So here's to our blossoming generation.
I wonder who they'll be today and all the tomorrows after

The Story Behind the Collections: Waddler

Discovering Waddler was like opening a magical storybook.  When Waddler came onto the 'scene' we knew  we had found something so special and so desirable!  It made us remember the reason why we started Sisters Guild - to bring together collections from talented and imaginative designers, makers and mamas, those with an inspiring vision.

Carla & I were in awe of Marina when we met her with her collection of alpaca loveliness, along with her family - her newborn son contentedly wrapped in an alpaca baby blanket.  We wanted to throw our arms around it all.  And so we did!

Waddler is an important part of the Sisters Guild Boutique and we are full of excitement each time we send a piece of Waddler around the world. Our own children are now being enrobed with alpaca jumpers as the winter sets in.  In March the new addition to the family is set to be wearing that amazing wolf & Bear jumper!

Waddler weaves (or knits!) a story of a creative family who adventured to South America, discovered freedom for their children and dreamt up a beautiful alpaca clothing collection.  The inspiring couple behind the collection is Marina Scrymgeour and Philip Thompson who bring us something so incredible and unique - ethically made clothing in alpaca wool in playful designs that reflect the fun and adventure of childhood.

Waddler is here to remind us of how children love to run free in nature, become bears or wolves, any animal they choose, romp and play and let their imaginations soar. The clothing is innocent, nonrestrictive and designed to be played in, to climb trees and roll on the grass.  The alpaca wool is very soft - it is one of nature's finest fabrics and it will last many winters for many generations.

Waddler for us expresses the wonder and the wide-eyed possibilities of being a child and embracing the world.  Waddler is a celebration of a joyous time.

We are aware that the Waddler family are back in Bolivia developing their future collections, doing what must be an awesome photoshoot and enjoying new discoveries as a family.  You must follow their blog here

We are so happy to share such a stand-out and beautiful collection in our online boutique.
