An A-Z of Sisters Guild - O

Oona's dream 5th June 2011

Oona drew this picture of her dream and she was very particular about the colours and said it was Sessi and a rabbit.

Gabe's dream 5th June 2011
Gabe drew this picture of his dream and told me it was 'a boy who was ill and you (mummy) looked after him and got him a present.'

Sessi's dream 8th June 2011
Sessi drew this picture of her dream and when I asked her what was happening in the picture she said 'Well, the people here live upside down. This girl is missing her family and so she's searching for her heart.'

oneiric /ō-ˈnī-rik/ adj pertaining to dreams; dreamy

This little drawing blog of ours has inspired me to start an interesting project with Gabe:  to do 'morning drawings.'  I remember learning about the automatic drawing of the Surrealists whose technique was to have an easel at the end of the bed to paint upon waking.  I'm not going to take it quite so far as setting up an easel, or expect Gabe to start an art movement,  but I will have paper and pens available for him to express his waking thoughts before the days activities begin, before words and self-consciousness creep in.  It will be quite an amazing record.  When children draw freely without any 'prescription' it can produce some revealing results - just as you've seen above!
